The Nazoin Temple
This morning my mother and I went to the Nazoin Temple with
the reclining Buddha. The reclining Buddha is the largest bronze statue in the
world (according to the information I found).
When we arrived to the area where the reclining Buddha is
located we saw a lot of people and two canopied areas with chanting monks.
There were media people with cameras to record what was happening. There were
also a lot of items that I think were being offered for Buddha (at least this
is what I think was happening).
Since we could not wander around in front of this area to
see the statue we decided to go and see the other areas of the temple. We would
go back to see Buddha later.
The weather was beautiful. There were a lot of people there.
It is one of the pilgrimage sights in Japan. I do have to agree because when
you see the reclining Buddha it is breathtaking.
We walked around and looked at all of the Buddha statues.
Since I have been here before and have blogged about it before I am not writing
as much as I probably could. I did get to take a few panorama shots with my
updated iphone. I have one photo with my mom standing by Buddha’s toes, but I
think it is very hard to see her since it is a very long statue. If you see a
whitish spot by the toe, that is her.
Upon arriving back into our area we met Mark for lunch at
Freshness Burger. The good news here is that the rumors were true; they did put
a vegetarian option back on the menu!! The veggie bean burger also came on a
pumpkin bun.
Once lunch was over I introduced my mom to Don Quijote. We
call it “Donkey” for short. This is a store that has a little of everything,
and a lot of other things. If you were ever in need of eyelashes then this is
the place for you.
Enjoy the photos!
Another adventure awaits us tomorrow.
